About the Causes We Support
Give Kids The World Village
| Give Kids The World Village is a magnificent, magical, resort where the dreams of children with terminal illness really do come true. Give Kids The World Village’s mission is one that we feel aligns with our cause of making the world a better place. Give Kids The World Village is a “safe place” for children and their families to stay while visiting all the magical wonders of central Florida. This village allows for the extra needs that children with illness may need during their visit. Give Kids The World Village is truly magical in itself. | |
Children’s Harbor Family Center
Children’s Harbor’s mission is simple. It is strengthening children and families. Children’s Harbor has a beautiful campus at pristine Lake Martin outside of Birmingham, Alabama. They provide camping and adventure services to children with long-term serious illnesses and their families. Children’s Harbor also has a marvelous Family Center in Birmingham, at which they provide counseling, social work, education, and support services to these children and their families. This large and friendly family center is located in the heart of Children’s Hospital…and in our opinion is the HEART of Children’s Hospital.
Pathway’s Home
| Pathway’s mission is one that should be shared by individuals worldwide. It is to end Homelessness for Women and Children through Hospitality, Housing & Hope. Pathways accomplishes these goals through having a day center that provides emergency services such as food, clothing, laundry, showers and case management. Most Day Center guests live in emergency shelters or on the streets. Pathway’s also provides programs that include short term and long term housing. They also work hard to include employment readiness programs and arts and crafts based programs for kids that allow them to learn about emotions, anger management and decision making. | |
Ruffner Mountian Nature Center
Ruffner Mountain Nature Center is a 1,011 acres (4 km2) nature preserve located in the eastern portions of Birmingham, Alabama, near the neighboring suburb of Irondale. The preserve includes a visitor center containing native Alabama animals including raptors, snakes, turtles and owls. The Ruffner Mountain area was home to iron ore mines and stone quarries, supplying the area's steel mills. When the mines played out in the 1950s, nature reclaimed the area. The preserve contains 11 miles (18 km) of hiking trails.
